Prayer Update #38: 5/6/11
Dear AGA Prayer Warriors,
Happy Mother's Day! Thank you for your continued faithful prayers for AGA. As we approach Mother's Day, we pray that all mothers in China would feel loved, even those who have suffered the "disgrace" of bearing daughters. Join us also as we lift up those mothers who have lost their children to trafficking or have been victims of forced abortion. May the Lord's peace rest on them!
This week, there is much to pray for, but let's start with some praises:
1) More Workers! - We praise God for Calvary Temple of Christ in Yuma, Arizona! When Pastor Jones read about Chai Ling's story and AGA in World Magazine, he was determined to do something. Since then, he has mobilized his congregation to give, to pray and to get the word out about AGA's work! Please join us also in praising God for students at Spring Hill College, where they are the first to successfully complete AGA's Chapter Challenge! It is the work of volunteers and prayer warriors such as these who are bringing hope to China today.
2) Commencement Speech - Tomorrow morning, Chai Ling will be speaking to thousands gathered for Commencement at Charleston Southern University. We praise God for the opportunity to speak, and for CSU's enthusiasm in getting the word out about AGA in the weeks leading up to Commencement. Please ask that God would inspire Ling with the words to speak, and that he would open up the hearts and ears of those in attendance, that they would be moved to join the movement as well!
3) Congressional Hearing - Next week, our Director of Operations, Zhang Jing, will be testifying before Congress about the oppression and persecution that is happening today in China. We thank God for this privilege and opportunity! Pray that the Lord would direct Jing as she prepares her testimony, and pray for an open ear from Congress. Please continue to pray also for a press conference that we are attempting to organize for June 1st. We thank God that the State Department's Office of Global Women's Issues has shown a strong interest in the event.
4) Ling's Book - Ling has nearly completed the final manuscript of her book, to be released this fall. We praise God for her editor, David, who has done a phenomenal job of editing the text. Please pray that God would cause the words to flow for both of them as they put the finishing touches on the book. Join us as we ask God to bless the book with success as it is published, so that many would see the redemptive power of Christ in Ling's story and turn to him!
5) Benefit Dinner - On Friday, June 17th, AGA will be hosting its First Annual Dinner at the Millenium Bostonian Hotel. Our hope and prayer is that it will gather together supporters of AGA from across the country, so that we can celebrate together what God has done. Pray that those we are inviting will have an eagerness to attend and would be inspired to join with AGA in our rescue work. You are also welcome to attend! Thank you for your invaluable prayers, which are making a tangible difference as God continues to bring his salvation and redemption to the people of China! The Lord be with you.
in Christ,
the All Girls Allowed team
